Academic Writing
The Princess and the Frog (TPATF) began as a final research paper for my Women and Media course (COMM 6910), where I delved into the strategic writing process and the nuances of building interconnected ideas. This paper was selected for presentation at the National Communication Association's 110th Annual Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, under the Critical and Cultural Studies Division. I presented on a panel titled Re/theorizing the Gaze alongside three other academic professionals.
Journalism Writing
During a study abroad program in Québec City, Canada, I developed advanced journalism skills while exploring the city’s rich cultural history. I gained insight into the heritage of the First Nation Inuit tribe at the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec and, by chance, encountered a protest led by the Public Service Alliance of Canada. The protest, centered around labor laws affecting port workers, allowed me to interview two brothers impacted by the legislation. This experience taught me essential interviewing skills, such as active listening, effective follow-up questioning, and adhering to AP writing style.
